Routine

I decided to incorporate my one little word with Project 2008. Each month I will be adding a word to Potential which represents my project for that month.

For January, I have chosen the word Routine. If there is anything in which I need to live up to my potential, it is establishing a calming, productive routine in this household. I must establish the routine, maintain focus, and stay on task.

I'll post throughout the month to let you know how my project is coming along.

Anyone out there joining me?

I'm still collecting the one little word from all my readers. If you leave a comment with your word in the next few days, I will add it to the list and post all of our words together.

De-lurking Challenge

One other thing: I love the friends and acquaintances I've made on this blogging journey. You are what makes this worth it!! I'm giving all my readers an opportunity to introduce themselves.

*Please* if you enjoy my blog on a regular basis (or even if this is your first time visiting), would you consider saying a quick 'hello' in the comments section? Even if you've commented in the past and feel like checking in... I'd love to say hello to friends that have been with me from the beginning, and meet those of you who are just now joining in or have been silent readers.

This post will be on the 'front page' for a week. I'd love to hear from you!

  1. bon jour! I've been reading for a bit. I don't know how I found Mt. Hope but it could either be the Poet's Garden, homeschooling, or the Oregon connections. Anyhoo, I enjoy the aesthetic and "realness" of your writing and images. It is edifying to find others "in the trenches" so to speak and be encouraged. So, press on, it's good stuff!

  2. Love your blog!

I saw the word thing on Ali's site too. My word is "intentional"...hoping to spend my time more wisely in all areas.

  3. Hello from Canada! :) I found your blog through the WTM boards. I post there as 4kids4me. I mentioned to you before that I "cleaned out" my fav. blogs because of lack of time reading, but I added you b/c I just love this blog. Blessings!

  4. Well, you know I haven't been lurking, but I thought I'd say 'hello' anyhow.

I chose my word. It is 'quiet.'

  6. I'm not quite sure how I stumbled on your blog, and I haven't been reading for terribly long, but I LOVE IT!! I haven't been able to read the archives, but I'm working on it, in between my real job, my scrapbooking, my crafting, planning my wedding, and everything else that seems to take up all 39 hours of my day!:)

  7. Bella Art Girl~ Thanks so much for the compliments! It seems to me like you might have come over from Heather's blog, Becoming. Might be wrong, though. Thanks for saying 'hi.'

Wendy~ Intentional is an excellent word. Kinda like Deliberate, which was on my short list. :) Also, I haven't forgotten you. I still need to find out how much shipping would be for the sign. Will get to that this next week!!

Caralyn~ Thanks for taking the time to say hello! I remember you. :) Glad you stopped by today.

Carole~ I'm glad you're not a lurker. You're one of the blogging friends I count on. :) Quiet is a great choice. It is soooo hard to maintain a quiet spirit with the noise and chaos around us, isn't it?

Country Girl~ I have no desire to get rid of you. :) I need you around to put a smile on my face! Thanks for the compliments. Looking forward to having you 'around' this next year. (And awesome stuff you posted today!!)

Kelli~ Thank you *so much* for introducing yourself. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Feel free to comment any time. I'm waiting for you to post on your blog so I can get to know you better. :)

  8. Aloha! Not sure how I found your blog -- I think it was from a book review, but I keep coming back, and I recently added you to my blogroll.

    Happy New Year!

  9. Hi Heidi,

I've been enjoying your blog for about a month now. I think I came by way of Lindsey at Enjoy the Journey. I really enjoy what you have to say and your classical curriculum with littles.

Oh, and by the way, I think my word for the year is RELATIONSHIP. So often, I put "doing" over being. I want my relationships to come first and foremost in my life, and not my housework, etc.

  10. Hi there,

I'm not sure about a word for the year yet, though I like the idea. I just thought I'd comment and say hi! I, like you, have found that making connections with others online is one of the greatest things about blogging.

  11. I'm not a lurker, but hello anyway!! I am pondering the project a month....

  12. Thanks again for the word idea. I'm actually thinking of investing in metal or wooden letters to spell out "Courage" above my dresser. A good reminder.

  13. Funny thing. I found your blog from a link on another blog (and so on and so on... isn't this how it works?)and have enjoyed it for several months now. How tickled I was when I realized your connection to Poet's Garden! When I lived in Oregon, I tried to visit there often. After moving to Virginia a few years ago, I have truly missed the gorgeous and serene atmosphere at Poet's Garden. Just was telling an OR friend that we must plan a visit next time I'm home.
    And my word is "tranquility."
Looking forward to reading more of your writings!
    Julie

  14. delurking here. Greetings.

I think I found your blog via WTMboard. As soon as I realized you had an Oregon connection, I kept coming back. I have a Levi too btw.

    Oregon is our "home" state.

    My word is: Enrich.

  16. Thanks! I will be blogging again soon! I had one, but deleted it and I'm starting over:) One thing I need to know is how to put pictures into my posts...any help on that would be greatly appreciated:)

  17. I just added you to my reader and am enjoying your blog. I haven't thought of my word yet...but am ruminating :) I'll get back to ya later.

  18. Not a lurker am I but saying hello, nonetheless! :) Yours was one of the very first blogs I discovered, right after Trivium Academy's...but I can't remember how I initially found you.

Almost every day there are 5 blogs I check even if I have time to do little else. Your's is one of the five! Thanks for creating such a beautiful place and sharing your journey in such an amazing, creative way.

  19. Hi Heidi, Couldn't find your email. I wanted to let you know I decided I'm going to get really crafty and make the sign. We'll see how it goes. Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it.

  20. Well, I've been a "lurker" for a few days now, as I started my own blog. Offically, let me say hello! I am some what of a neighbor of yours, I live outside of Portland, also in our forever home in the country! I have really enjoyed your blog and already have you marked in my own blog :) "littleschoolinthebigwoods"
I am thinking about your "challenge" for the year, have not yet decided, but I will keep you posted. Thanks and Happy New Year! Laura

  21. One more thing...I think you would enjoy this blog:http://www.holyexperience.blogspot.com/
particularly because her newest entry is a beautiful reminder of routine and how to prioritize...a great step to reaching "potential"! :)

  22. Anne~ Aloha! :) Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Joni~ I enjoyed visiting your blog. I shouldn't have followed your links to other blogs. It sent me on a fun little whirlwind of blog-visiting. Thanks for stopping by! I'll add relationship to the list. What a great focus.

Jen~ Thanks for commenting. Let me know if you decide on a word. It's tough to pick one, isn't it? I've enjoyed reading each person's focus for the year!

Howdy Sarah! I'd love it if you decided to do a project this month. I need a motivation/accountability partner. :)

The Good...~ (I never want to type bad or ugly as a part of your name, LOL) That is a great idea to make your word a physical thing! I'll have to think about where I could write 'potential.' It isn't as 'pretty' of a word as courage, though. :) Thanks for the link to the other blog. I really enjoyed her post about filling our jars!

Julie~ Wow! You used to visit Poet's but found my blog through another source? What a small world. :) Thank you so much for introducing yourself. Feel free to chime in at any time! Glad you've been enjoying the blog. (Ooh, and I love tranquility. Needing some of that right now...)

Chad & Glenda~ Thanks for commenting! Levi's are fun, aren't they? :) And Oregon is such a marvelous place! Enrich is a great word. Love it.

Donna~ Your blog is one of my favorite places to visit! Thanks for stopping by and saying 'hi.'

Kelli~ When I'm creating a blog post, I click on the photo icon (on the tool bar with spell check, etc.) then click on the browse button. I go to 'My Pictures' on my computer, double click on the photo I want, click on Upload (I think). That's the short version. Or you could email me (heidi(at)poetsgarden(dot)com). :) What *I* want to know is how to put a photo behind my blog title. Hmmm.

Dawn~ Thanks for taking the time to comment and say hello. Let me know if you think of a word!

Jennefer~ I'm so glad that you started coming by here! I enjoy visiting your blog as well, and think of you as a kindred spirit.

Wendy~ Are you the Wendy that posted above? Or am I completely confused, LOL. Either way, sorry I failed you on getting that sign shipping figured out. Best of luck on creating one. That will be more meaningful. Let me know if you change your mind and I'll try to be more on the ball!

Laura~ Hi neighbor! I stopped by your blog in the last day or two. Looking forward to visiting again. Thanks for introducing yourself!

Hopefully I didn't miss anyone yet. I appreciate each and everyone of you! Thanks for visiting. ~Heidi

  23. Hello. This is Barb from so. IL. I don't recall how I found your blog - either Pioneer Woman or Well-trained Mind. I'm also a homeschooler with three boys and one girl. My husband is a pastor.
I enjoy your blog for it's beauty (love your pictures and your home), it's wealth of knowledge (you're quite the reader!)and updates on your boys, especially Levi.

  24. Hi Heidi! Same one. No problem at all, I know I caught you at a busy time. I just decided I should save the money and it would be something fun to try. :)

  25. P.S. Heidi - I've tagged you: The idea… it’s a game of tag with a difference, rather than looking inwardly, we look outside ourselves and bless, praise and pray for one blog friend. By participating in this endeavour we not only make the recipient of the blessing feel valued and appreciated, but we are having some fun too. We’re going to see how far the bloggin’ blessings can travel around the world and how many people can be blessed!

  26. Hello! I found your blog about a month ago. I think it was from the WTM board, or maybe through another blog. Anyway, I really enjoy your pictures and thoughts. I'm a homeschool mom to a ds 7 and dd 5, and we are using the classical model, too. My word for 2008 is 'consistent'. Thanks for the idea - this will be a challenge!

  27. How neat that you posted about adding the monthly words to the *one little word* for 2008. I had posted the other day that my word for 2008 is *Haven*...but I have been thinking this week that I would like to incorporate some other *words* throughout the year, too. My *monthly word* for January is *Follow-Through*...because I am so good at *making* plans and not as good at carrying them out. I am really trying to focus this month on *doing* what I *plan*. Hopefully that will become a habit!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Barb~ Thanks for the compliments! I enjoy visiting your blog as well. And what a neat game of tag. :) I'll be thinking about someone to pass it on to....

Laura~ Thanks for introducing yourself! Consistency is a tough one for me, too.

Jennifer~ How fun that you were thinking of something similar! I *love* to plan, but follow-though is so very difficult. :) I'm going to have to work on that myself this month in order to get our routine down!

  29. I've commented on one or 2 of your recent posts...and have had your blog open in a tab for several days. :) Love the pictures of your son!

  30. I'm so happy to say I have the priviledge of knowing you in person as well as getting to know you better on your blog. I think I've chosen a word for this year...Joy. God-given Joy not something dependent on circumstances. So many of the other words people have posted are great, too. Thanks for your blog, it is a pleasure to read.

  33. I started reading your blog about a month ago, I think. I'm not sure how I found your blog. A book review?

  34. I'm no lurker, but as I am finally emerging from the all-consuming holidays, and getting back to blogs, other than my own, I thought I would post a quick note. Your blog is so well done, I really appreciate it.

  35. I cannot remember how I got to your blog...my memory isn't that good with three little ones of my own...LOL! I love the design tips you have for Project Heidi. I will definitely be returning!

For one little word, how about: RELAXATION? Something I am currently working on fitting into my schedule.

    Blessings!
