The Beckoning of Lovely


Even though the thought was in the back of my mind, I couldn't seem to find the right word. Last year, finding words was easy for me. I couldn't even narrow it down to one. This year, however, nothing. A lingering, nagging voice kept saying, find your word. And still, nothing. Until yesterday. It was so clear. It shouted, even. LOVELY. And the word wouldn't go away. Lovely has grown in proportions you can't imagine.

From Merriam-Webster, these two definitions leaped out at me:


2. delightful for beauty, harmony, or grace

4. eliciting love by moral or ideal worth


I could fill pages with the thoughts of one day. It will have to wait. I promise it is coming, though. If you're curious, start with this video (below). And I leave you with this thought:


Finally, brothers, whatever is true,

whatever is noble, whatever is right,

whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,

whatever is admirable

My four-year-old daughter's resolution this year is "to make herself lovely". I thought that was sweet on so many levels, including the one you are referring to here.

I love that verse. On Monday, I did a post on all my signs..I have a sign with that verse Phil 4:8...I love it!

I often forget about that verse, perhaps I should put up a sign. Thanks for the idea, Sandy Toes. In all the sometimes difficult, sometimes tiredness of being at home I forget to think about such things. It is important to keep ones mind on these. Thanks for the reminder.

I recently bought a "lovely" and quite decorative framed bulletin board to hang on the wall over the piano near our dinner table. I just hung it today. It is a board for pinning up scriptures for our family to memorize together at each meal. The passages will rotate probably weekly. This (Phil 4:8) will be the first verse I pin up...just as soon as I find "lovely" paper to print it on! ~Tera in Salem

I love this... that verse is perfect. I enjoy coming to your blog BECAUSE I think it is so lovely. What a beautiful word.
