Living Lovely ~ Use the Good Stuff

Well, did you

Use the Good Stuff ?

I'm curious to hear what lovely thing(s) you put into use this week!
Did you have a hard time thinking of something?
Or justifying getting it out and using it?

Can't wait to read your comments and visit your blog posts!

It has been ages since I've had a tablecloth on our dining table.
Since we only have one table in our house, it gets a lot of use....
every meal, crafts and coloring, school work, snacks.
I decided to iron my favorite cloth and put it on anyway!

Having a cloth on our table made me want to have a tea party!
I feel badly, but I rarely think of doing tea parties with the boys, and they really enjoy them.
So, we got out some nice dishes, real tea cups, and special cookies.

My sister recently brought over a couple wonderful illustrated poetry books for us to enjoy.
I decided that I would make the best of my captive audience
and share a few poems by William Blake.
The boys have been doing their fair share of coloring and writing lately,
so I added paper to some clipboards for a nice coloring surface.
The colored pencils were all sharpened and ready to go.

The tea party was a hit!

I think I would like to start making tea time a part of our routine (at least weekly),
having the boys color while I read poetry.

Our challenge for next week:

Make a Lovely List.

I shared a project some time ago, painting my 'happy' list on a large canvas.
I want to challenge you to think of things that represent lovely to you.
Post this list in a visible place where it can be a source of daily inspiration.

Write it out on a chalkboard.
Paint it on a wall.
Print and frame it.
Use your imagination!!

I would REALLY like to see some pictures this next week.
Come on, you can do it!

I'm going to TRY to do the lovely list this week. My brain is abuzz with ideas. . .now to find time to carry one of them out!

Thanks for the inspiration! Your blog is beautiful and inspires me so much to make my home more lovely. (Not to mention your gorgeous photography and your wonderful homeschooling posts. . . ) :-)

Great post, everyone needs 'alot of lovely' in our lives. I'm already starting a list...
I mentioned your blog in my post today- Simply Charlotte Mason posted comments about good literature for kids, and I thought of you and your readers. I'm reading 'Surprised by Joy' which is the content of my post- Anyway, I have benefitted greatly this week from reading your planning & homeschool posts, for setting some new plans in motion for our school. I can't thank you enough. I've hit your site a million times, but have been so busy I haven't commented! Just wanted to say Hi and Thanks! So much!

I love this! We did add lovely this week in a pretty simple way: jello in our fancy goblets. It's kind of silly but the kids absolutely love it! Thanks for the inpiration and I'll be thinking of my lovely list too!

Aw, man, I'm bummed I missed this one--but I'm on board for the lovely list!! :) Goody, goody, goody--that'll be fun!!
I am a user of finer things type of gal--I learned from my mom and her mom, both of whom use "the good stuff" any chance they get! My favorite is my tea cup collection--having tea in a proper tea cup just makes tea time...special! That will make it onto my lovely list for sure! :) Thanks, as always, for the inspiration! And i loooove the idea of a tea party, art and poetry reading--my almost-four-year-old son looooves tea parties, too!

Thanks for the comments, ladies. I'm so glad I'm not doing this by myself. :)

Gina~ I love the idea of making jello in goblets. We'll have to give that one a try! Isn't it funny how such a small thing can put such a big smile on little (and big) people's faces. :)

If you can do a tea party while reading aloud to three boys, then so can I! What a great idea. Thanks for the inspiration. I'll add it to my list of things "to work in" to our schedule :) ~Tera

We use our 'good' for every day....this is especially true for Chloe and her dresses. She wears her good clothes for every day. I've invested in some good stain remover and we turn the every day into something special!
