Tuesday morning I woke in the dark, layered on the clothing, headed outside into the heavy grayness, waited for the ice on my windshield to thaw, drove through the fog, and met Shannon to begin our walk on the quiet country road.
May I tell you, I'm loving the time change.
Halfway into our walk, we had the promise of rosy dawn on our left:
And the retreating full moon on our right:
Hello, sunshine.
Through the fog towards the west, you can barely make out the hill which I call home
(at least a little parcel of land at the base of it...), and see the acres of 'lawn' which span the mile or two between us.
Our walking/photo session ran long, I had to hurry back so that Russ could make it to work on time.
Our walking/photo session ran long, I had to hurry back so that Russ could make it to work on time.
Back home, I stopped at the end of our driveway to capture the view back towards Shannon:
Russ hurried off, but there was more magic to capture.

Gorgeous shots!!! Pre-kids we used to get up before the sun to walk ... loved starting my days that way! "The heavens declare the glory of God ... "
Those are beautiful! I'm not a morning person either. I have a hard time getting up early. And I am a night owl.
Stunning - absolutely stunning! I especially loved that one of the little bare tree with the water drops sparkling on the fence wire!
Some of my favorite photos I've ever taken were early November mornings. And though I'm not a morning person either I've been known to wander around the yard in pj's boots and coat, camera in hand. Good thing I don't have close neighbors. :)
You live in a gorgeous spot!
Enjoy your walks!

Love. Love! LOVE!
What a brilliant reward for your early morning diligence! Keep it up, girl! :)
oh, wow. these take my breath away with their sheer beauty. what a total bonus for you and Shannon. an amazing way to begin the day...
doesn't it *almost* make you want to get up and do it the next day, too?!?! ;-)
Your pictures are amazing. So lovely.
Good job sticking to the walks. I envy you - how special to be able to walk with a sister every morning. :)
Skeller~ Oh, it didn't look like that the next day. :) Today it was completely foggy and gray (and cold again). At least it wasn't pouring down rain, though...
Oh Heidi, you captured enchantment! I'm so happy you've been spending this time, it's really important for your soul. Wish I had a sis two miles away! Hope to see you soon, Tera.
Very beautiful photos :)

Perhaps tomorrow morning I will close my eyes and imagine my running route looks like yours. Of course then I will be hit by a metrobus or a grumpy bike commuter. : )
Magical photos, Heidi.
Those photos are just beautiful, I love the morning!!!!
Heidi....these pics are so beautiful!! I felt like I had been able to join in with you and Shannon!!!
Great shots!!
Such lovely photos!
I am not a morning person either, but the time change has been good for me. My entire family has been going to bed earlier (since it feels like it's 9 even when it's just 6 lol) and it is so much easier to get up in the morning! This might be the first year that I've been happy about the time change :)
Heidi,
My parents are vacationing in Oregon this week. I think they are on the coast today. They think it is the most beautiful state they have ever seen! Your pictures make me think so, too!
What gorgeous pictures. Stunning.
Great job walking and running. That is so awesome!
breathtaking. leaves me speechless.
When are you going to start selling your prints? You should have a store on Etsy- I would buy them.
I absolutely love the last photo. Would you consider selling the photos on Etsy? thanks.
I'm not really up to setting up an Etsy store at the moment, but if you (anyone) would like the image file to print (and don't mind a small watermark :)), just email me (heidi@poetsgarden.com) and I'll send you the image. Free lovely, and all that. :)
