It seems I'm always a day (or week, or month...) late these days, but I finally finished my leaf calendar for my mantel. It all started with a handful of leaves I picked up while walking with Shannon one morning last week. I picked up a few more at church yesterday. Yes, it works best if you dry and press them for a few days.... but patience isn't one of my virtues. I think the leaves are quite charming with a little curl, don't you? (Please say yes.)
I used my large corkboard (which is covered with black paper, but one could easily paint the surface as well), added 30 craft tags (I'm glad November has only 30 days) and leaves with silver push pins, and wrote 1-30 on the leaves with a large black pen. Each day we'll be writing on a tag (with a smaller black pen) something for which we are thankful. This morning we got to think up 9 things...

So beautiful! We don't have quite the variation of lovely leaves in my part of Texas but I could do my best.
Maybe if I collect and press them now then I'll be all set to go next year? (Do dried leaves last a year?)
What a lovely idea!!
Yes!!!
curls are definitely charming ;-)
oh. I adore this idea. And this I could do. Yes, this, I could do!
Love this, Heidi - it's beautiful. I was going to do something similar (but not nearly as pretty) with waxed leaves - do you think that would work with your idea, too? If so, I am keeping this plan for next year! My son has been asking for a monthly "advent" calender and I have been looking ofr other ideas for other months. Yours is gorgeous!
Lovely idea! So much art is inherent in each leaf, they are perfect for displaying. Yes, they speak of autumn and gratitude, don't they?
I LOVE it! I am STILL going to do your Christmas countdown as well, it's GREAT to see some Heidi Home Decor...
Love this. I am having a difficult time this month. Having something to lift my spirit really helps me not fall in the funk. Thank you for posting this Heidi.
Lovely! What a creative idea!
Ooooh, so beautiful! What a great idea, thanks for sharing!

Love it! It's even more beautiful than last years garland :) ~Tera K.
You're an inspiration...
And I think "how does she do it?" Homeschool, keep house, grocery shop, feed everyone, AND find time to make seasonal pretties. My little ones are 5, 3, and 1. We manage to eat, get some schoolwork done (emphasis on *some*), load and empty the dishwasher, and read each day.
Perfect! I have been trying to think up something like this for weeks. Love it!
I'm an inpatient leaf presser, too. :)
Geeze, this is lovely! That does it, I've signed up to follow you :) Blessings!
You've inspired me again and with highest compliments to you, I've copied your idea :) !!! I made our own mini version with felt leaf "stickers" (because I already had them on hand and unfortunately my husband was super efficient with leaf clean-up this year!) Your display is truly lovely!!! I posted pictures of mine on my blog this evening if you're interested.
Blessings!
