It's been a looooong time since I've invited you all in for a tour.
I figured that I should take advantage of the one time all year that my house will be clean and take photos.
(Ignore the grainy photos (forgot to fix the ISO) and bad lighting. I was lazy.)

Not much has changed since the last time, but come on in and make yourself at home.

So, there you have it: Our Spacious Home.
And the burning question: Where on earth are we going to put baby #4?
First of all congrats on baby #4... I loved having baby #4 and only wish there would be more... Secondly... The looks GREAT, now EVERYONE can see all the fruit of your labor! Next time mine is clean {that may be when the children are raised} I will remember to post pics...
ReplyDeleteOh, congratulations! Our house is like that too - no storage, three kids in bedroom #2 upstairs (no bedroom #3). I'm totally inspired by how you've decorated. I shall be taking a closer look.

I am of course loving that you posted to celebrate your clean house...maybe I will hurry to clean mine so I can post a celebration too. Also, as I looked into the boys room I thought oh good - just trade out the single bed and do another bunk bed and you have a bunk room..I have always loved those houses with the built in cubby like beds - probably vacation type rooms - but still the possibilites... Also, I just realized that you love bead board as much as I do and that you painted your cabinets light on top and dark on the bottom...great minds think alike : )
ReplyDeleteanyhoo - good job friend - have a good Saturday. I am feeling the changes to adding the third child we just bought a double bike trailer to replace our single and are now strategising [sp?] about stroller/child carrier options...feeling the large family pull - all good - congrats friend - peace out!
Love your small house! It's beautiful. Congratulations on #4! We have 5 in our small house (although our house doesn't have quite as much character as yours).
ReplyDeletewhat???? wow! congrats!!! and your home is simply lovely! =)
ReplyDeleteHEIDI!!! I giggled out loud at the end of your post. Yippee!! :)
ReplyDeleteYour home is utterly charming and adorable and cheery and LOVELY. We have the same shower curtain, and I think the rug in the living room is a sibling (if not twin) to ours. :)
Thanks for sharing your wonderful home and exciting news! Hugs to you!
Elaine
very fun way to spread the word of your news!! :-)
ReplyDeleteand I'm thinking ... bumping out a wall somewhere?!?!?
What's funny is, in the kitchen shot I noticed the ultrasound pictures on your tack board and thought "hm, is that her baby?" ;) So I was waiting for the catch at the end! Congrats!! (If you don't remember me I'm the one who wrote about how much I like the name Leif... so let me guess, will the new one be a little Liam? Or maybe Lora? Or Lisa? :) good luck choosing a name!)
ReplyDeleteLoved the tour! Looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love your home! Even though, like mine, it may not be huge, it seems to have an abundance of natural light, which I covet. Good for you for taking photos while it's cleaned up!
ReplyDeleteI can tell you all are big readers. :-)
And congrats on the baby news!!
Heidi!! Congrats! I am so happy for you guys...and, your house is absolutely beautiful and you'll find space for the new little one. The more the merrier :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for inviting us into your home. It is lovely. I like the spicyness of the living room. It seems like you've added more colors/mixtures of things. (I am sometimes shy of doing that myself, but like it when there are pops of color here and there)
ReplyDeleteWe have a plaque on the wall here in our 1500 sq ft house that says, "When there is room in the heart there is room in the house."
♥
Congrats Heidi!!! You have a beautiful home that just exudes "Family." There will be room for one more member.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Congrats to you all! I have no answer to your space struggles, though...
ReplyDeleteAnd may I just say I love your card catalog-type storage in the living room? I'm drooling :)
Your house exudes the same warmth and sincerity that your blog does. I like (and appreciate) that! Congrats on the baby news. I am a faithful reader and thought that I had missed a day and the good news. Can't wait to follow another little love of yours... Destiny
ReplyDeleteCongrats Heidi and Family!! Your home is just beautiful, with all that you've done so far I'm sure one more will fit in fine! Looking forward to reading about your trip down this new path! Can't wait to hear the little one's name too!
ReplyDeleteWhere to begin? I love your house! It's so lovely and I'm impressed that the entire house was clean all at the same time! I'd have to take pictures of different rooms on different days =)
ReplyDeleteI'll start from the top. Love the way you decorated your fireplace mantle. The lamps & star make great focal points and I love the mix of whites & terra cotta. You left me curious about your classroom though and I'm dying to see inside those french doors!!!
Your living room looks like a picture in a magazine! Where did you get that retro red phone??? The tray it's in with the pot & lamp - love it! I also like all the globes & maps. And the large windows with all that natural light flooding in livens up the space so nicely!
Your kichen looks large and spacious...and so clean!!! I really like your taste; from the chunky candlesticks to the beadboard on the walls and the sign that says "lovely" says it all!
Your hallway is another magazine picture! I'd like a closer look at what you have hanging on the wall there. It looks so tidy.
On to the bathroom. Did you remodel it? It looks great. The colors are nice & cheery and I like the cabinets with the glass handles. Ikea? The double sinks must be nice, especially since you have only one bathroom!
You have a beautiful bedroom, and I think it does say "master!" It looks like a great place to relax and lay your head down at night - so peaceful. You have great taste!
Your boys' room is nice & clean! For now, right?
Congratulations on #4 and good luck with making a spot for him/her! You will find one, and I have no doubt that you will make it beautiful!
Thanks for inviting us into you home!
Lisa
Congratulations!!! I spied an ultrasound pic in your kitchen and wondered about it...YAY! Hope that you are feeling well! Your home is lovely, cozy and warm feeling and I'm sure you'll find the perfect nook for a new little one!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliments and well-wishes, everyone!!! You've made my day. :)
ReplyDeleteBella Art Girl~ Would you believe that the kitchen cabinets were already painted like that and all the bead board was there when we moved in...part of the reason I fell in love with the house. :) I *totally* love bunk rooms, and have always wanted one. I just thought it might be a tad bit bigger... :) If it is a boy, we may eventually put in a second bunk, but it will go over part of the window, which I'm not happy about. I actually thought that we needed to build a bunk house somewhere else on the property where the boys could sleep in the summer. The idea is really appealing at the moment, LOL. I hear you about all the little adjustments one has to make as a new little person joins the family.
Elaine~ I've been missing our little email chats. I told Susan that the three of us needed to have a photo shoot pow-wow in October...
Susan~ I would *love* to add on. Another bedroom, another bathroom, a family room, a bigger utility room... I don't ask for much. ;-D Maybe that's why it isn't in our budget, yet.
Kelli~ Oh. my. word. I can't believe you noticed that!! You surely win some sort of prize, there. I remember our baby name chat. Lucie, Lake, Landon, Lark... Hmmm. Wonder what it'll be... ;-D
Hannah~ I need to get a better shot of the tall book case in the boys' room. It's quite ridiculous. And I didn't even photograph the school room/library. We *do* like books around here!
Carole~ Yep. There is absolutely room in our hearts. Levi is over the moon. He keeps on saying 'thank you' as if we are having this baby just for him. ;-D Living space is very secondary, and we'll scooch together to make room.
Diana~ That card catalog cabinet has a fun story. My in-laws purchased a fixer-upper house for a rental and that was in the garage. I begged for it, painted it black, spray painted the rusted drawer pulls, stencilled the letters and numbers on the drawers, and had the metal top cut for it. It's pretty beat up but it is one of my favorite pieces of furniture!
Lisa~ I posted some pictures a while ago of the school room: http://mthopeacademy.blogspot.com/2009/01/our-libraryschool-roomoffice.html. We have a new bookcase in the corner, though: http://mthopeacademy.blogspot.com/2010/02/bookshelf.html. It just wasn't clean enough yesterday to photograph. :) I stole the red phone from my sister. I have 10 clipboards hung on the left wall of the hallway with pop art/warhol inspired photo collages and paintings. The right side has just photo ledges with various B&W family photos. I have the hardest time getting pictures of that because the hall is so narrow. The bathroom looked like that when we moved in. Isn't it fun?!! I do like the 2 sinks. And, no, the boys' room didn't stay that way for longer than 3 minutes...
i should have known you would have the talent of an interior decorator too!!
ReplyDeleteSwooning and sighing, oooohing and ahhhing...and still so happy for you all! Thanks for the peek...
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful! I love your blog and it inspires me. You put a big smile on my face when I got to the end of your post.
ReplyDeleteWe are really excited about your good news. Grandpa said he hoped it would be a girl, (maybe he thinks you need some more femininity in your house or that you would really like a girl to raise) but I reminded him there are advantages to either way. So we'll just have to wait and see won't we. I'm sure either one will be greatly loved. Grandma
ReplyDeleteYou home is lovely, just as I remember. And where are you going to put baby #4? I can't wait to see what you come up with.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to ask you above, how many miles away were the other residents of this house when these pictures were taken. I'm surprised you had time to make it all around. The house looked beautiful. Grandma
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness! First, your house is beautiful. Second, our 3 boys share a room, too! Third, my boys have been talking all week about wanting another baby -- and my excuse is that we're out of room! Guess that excuse didn't work at your house... ;) CONGRATULATIONS!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations!! :)))
When are you due?
Our babies sleep in our bed/in our room ;), I've seen some space there ;)
Thankyou for inviting us into your home, it's very beautiful and I love the vintage feel some rooms give. And congratulations on the baby, great news :)
ReplyDeleteI love your house. It looks ready to just snuggle right down with a good book. And, congratulations! :)
ReplyDeleteWendy
Thank you for this "tour" :o)!
ReplyDeleteYour home is as lovely as you are!!!
I was surprised to see that we have the very same bed as your boys...it's from IKEA...!!!
Heidi -
ReplyDeleteYou home actually looks HUGE and LOOK AT ALL THAT STORAGE - of course I'm comparing it to what's HERE. :) It's all relative.
I *love* the red dressers, cabinets. Wish I could tuck things like that in my suitcase to bring back with me. :) Wish you could come down and help me!! Wish....wish....wish....:)
Two thoughts: One - can you rearrange things under that shelf unit in YOUR room to be a spot for baby??? It looks perfectly suited. Of course a few of those books may have to be moved so they don't come crashing down...
And ATTIC ROOM!!! Can the boys go up there?????? Then room for baby??? We must have a look-see. :)
Congratulations!!
My, oh my! Congratulations! You have a beautiful home-it's so warm and inviting. I love all the books! Especially in the boys room.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your house. So warm and inviting. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteFirst thing's first- Congrats on the new itty bitty! I don't know how I've missed that, but it's such wonderful news.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, your home is wonderful! You have done such a fantastic job making it "feel like home", and it's not even my home. haha. I love your master, btw. It looks like a very cozy space.
Now where to put #4, um, maybe the "point of no return" room needs to become older boys room. ;)
Can't wait to see what you come up with.
XO*Tricia
P.S. I have a question for ya'. What is the grey color on the walls in the living room called? I love it.
Your house is so charming. I'm visiting you via A Homegrown Life. You have really utilized every square inch in the most lovely way.
ReplyDeleteI'll answer more questions in my next post, but a few quick things: For those of you who thought you missed a previous announcement...you didn't. That was it. ;-) I'm due on Oct 5th, so we're at 13 weeks on Tuesday. The 'point of no return' room is *smaller* than the boys' bedroom, and has angled walls (so a bunkbed is not possible). Our bed is a queen size, with barely enough room to walk around it. I sleep poorly with a baby in bed with me (BTDT, might be there again) and often have a 3 yo in bed with us. Sigh. There is a wall heater (the only heat in the room) right next to the bed on the door side. If we put something between the dressers, we can't open the drawers (and the dressers don't fit together against the far alcove wall). One of the dressers may have to go (don't tell my hubby ~ it will be his :)). The gray color in our front room is Stonington Beige by Glidden, but I don't think it is available anymore. Hopsack by Ralph Lauren is almost identical.
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful home. I love your decorating style and I can tell that you're a gal after my own heart with all of the books around your house. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on #4!! Hoping for a girl this time around?? Hope that you aren't feeling too tired - those early weeks can really wear you down.
You have a beautiful home, Heidi. Yesterday I felt a little overwhelmed after a long day of activities. Then I sat down to browse through some blogs and relax a little. The pictures of your home made me feel I was visiting a warm, welcoming home of a friend. Thank you for that :-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on number 4! Before I read the entire post, I noticed the pictures of the ultrasound on your board. I thought it was a little odd you would still have your son's pictures up after all those years :-). Please keep us posted on your progress.
I'm not a homeschooling mom but come to your space often for reading suggestions and inspiration.
yay, heidi! i'm so happy for you. i was thinking how sad the boys' room looked without a crib in there. and then to read your happy news! we've missed you--and of course will be praying for the best of health and pregnancy for both of you!
ReplyDeletejodi in pa
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
ReplyDeleteAs I was scrolling through the pictures I was trying to make out the little word cards on the bulletin board in the kitchen, then noticed the ultrasound pictures!!! I was hoping they were yours, figured not too many people have other ultrasound pictures...{unless they are going to be grandparents}
We recently added a 4th child to our home. We have 3 bedrooms, so we have the 2 boys in one and the 2 girls in the other and it's still tight. Unlike you the rest of our house isn't open and spacious, the rest is pretty tight and cramped, but the bedrooms are decent sized....if it ever manage to finish painting everything I will get some pictures... someday...
: )
Yay, a Baby! I had thought you said in the past you were done having children. I'm so glad for you and your husband. As for where to fit baby, they're small at least for a year so it is a problem that can be worked out over that time. I'm just so happy for you all!
ReplyDeleteOh Heidi! How exciting! Congratulations! I hope you are feeling well. What do the boys think?
ReplyDeleteYour house is beautiful! I'll be looking back through the pictures again. Our boys have triple bunk beds. Their grandpa built them. Maybe your dad could make a set. Then the baby bed could go on the other wall. Just a thought.
Thanks for sharing your home and the good news! Take care of yourself!
Laura
Wow you're probably tired of reading comments but I have to add my two cents-- congratulations of course I am so excited to possibly read future baby related posts since I just delivered my third child last week. We are also moving May 1 back to our house in GA which is 1000 square feet less than the home we are in now and we're going back with two more kids than we left with! So by your post I am encouraged that we will fit somehow and it will still be beautiful and lovely.
ReplyDelete--April H.
Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour of your lovely home. Enjoyed the tour of your schoolroom a while back.
Wondering where you found the magnetic words on your frig?
: * )
Amelia
aaaaawwww, I love it that you are pregnant, I wish more people had more than two kids!!
ReplyDeleteyour house is so livable, colorful and welcoming--I love it! Looks like you've been creative in your storage--that's a feat!!
thanks for sharing!! {my 10-month-old is napping in my arms--I love babies!}
Laura~ I love the idea of triple bunks. How high is your ceiling? This one is kinda low, and I'm not sure there would be enough room for the boys to be comfortable stacked 3 high. Maybe, though.

I can't believe you ladies who noticed the ultrasound pictures! Very observant. ;-P
Thanks for sharing the card catalog story -- I've been looking for one forever. As a book lover, I can't help it :)
ReplyDeleteAs for decorating with bookshelves, one of my favorite quotes is by Anna Quindlen: "I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves." (Alternately, Roald Dahl's version was "So please, oh PLEASE, we beg, we pray, go throw your TV set away, and in its place you can install, a lovely bookshelf on the wall." from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)
Congratulations! So happy for you all. :) I have always loved your home. It is so cozy and inviting. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHeidi, our ceilings are normal 8 ft. ceilings. The bottom bunk is almost on the floor. We only have two boys so that level doesn't even have a mattress. It is filled with Legos! The boys love it! It is very sturdy. We bought the instructions online.
ReplyDeleteI love you girl!! Here's wishes for a happy, comofortable and swift pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteNow, I knew you had books, but I didn't realize there was that many... and I didn't even see the ones in the school room. I am jealous!!
How about this?! Put the two boys upstairs in the playroom and one in the bedroom downstairs with the baby. Or better yet, all three boys upstairs. The toys would be centrally located too... woo hoo. then the baby could have the room on the main floor.
Let us know how it goes.
(((HUGS))) Let me get to CS Lewis here soon. We can just mingle with CS Lewis as the days allow... like when I need a special chat of my own with ya.
More soon,
Ask Aunt Shirley how it is to be the youngest baby and not fit into a house - Great Gram brought her home in a shoebox and she slept in the bottom dresser drawer because they had not a spare inch of room! lol :) So excited for ya'll! Congrats again!
ReplyDeleteMichelle
Oh Heidi!! You totally got me. Hook, line and sinker. And here I thought it was a post about your lovely homey home. I too adore beadboard and I'm an Uppercase Living demonstrator so I immediately noticed the vinyl words on your walls. Congrats on your pregnancy (and your clean home!!). Hope your week is simply splendiferous!
ReplyDeleteYou took me completely by surprise!! What wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteHEIDI! Lindsay called me to share and then I saw this today. I am speechless! But THRILLED. Here's hoping for a girl this time around. I can just picture this darling girl with her adoring brothers doing anything she wants for the rest of her life. :)
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS to you and Russ and the boys and take care! So exciting!
Trish
ONE bathroom? Oh my...
ReplyDeleteYour home is so lovely! I can see how you are going to have to...squeeeeeeze but congratulations on your wonderful news!
congratulations!! i'm sure you'll find room in a corner somewhere. babies don't take up much space, just their stuff!
ReplyDeleteLet me pile on and add my Congratulations!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to share the baby news, I was not expecting that at all! Too funny!
Loved all the pics of the house.
Very happy for you and your family!
How I LOVE your tour and house, it's really a wonderful home, I'd love to live there!!
ReplyDeleteI love your decorating - so cute and cozy. How about put the boys upstairs and the baby in the boy's room?
ReplyDeleteHooray for a baby!! I wish you a very happy, healthy, and uneventful pregnancy. What a wonderful blessing!
ReplyDeleteYour home is so cozy and welcoming. I just want to curl up on your couch for a chat!
~ Sarah
Oh, bless you for sharing your lovely home. I,too, have a tiny home and homeschool and have far too many books. So, I come back to your blog for inspiration often. I like to see how you "scape" little corners or tops of bookcases, etc with the seasons, etc. I love those focal points.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on baby # 4! How precious! Love how you announced it!
Would you be willing to share where you got your black leather club chairs and the little side table on the side of the couch, by the window (is it black or dark wood) with the little lamp on it? I have been searching for furniture that will fit in my living room and they are all exactly what I am looking for.
You are so gifted in beauty, inside and out! Thank you for blessing others with your gift!
Laura
Laura~ The club chairs were purchased (along with the large ottoman) at Tarjay a few years ago. ;-P That little table, hmmmm, maybe a flea market? It's just a cheap little thing that I spray painted black, but it is the perfect size for that corner!
ReplyDeleteThanks, again, everyone for the lovely comments, compliments, and well-wishes!!
Thanks for the link to the magnetic letters Heidi!

Amelia
Ooops, thanks for link to the magnetic words, not letters!

Congratulations on baby #4! You have a beautiful home. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHURRAH!!!! I haven't been blog hopping in weeks, but you made this announcement on my BIRTHDAY, so happy for you, and love, love, love your house. And you of course.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on baby #4!! I am holding our #3 newborn in my arms as I type, making my happiness for you even greater- babies are so wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI want to tell you that I have been struggling with decorating our (small) home, and I love everything about your house!!! I lhave a hard time defining my style or knowing what I like, but your style is exactly how I'd like my home to be: simple, fresh, friendly, creative . . . I am bookmarking this post so I can come back to it and get ideas! thanks!
Congrats!!! Your home is gorgeous:-) Cant wait to see newborn photos... I can just imagine how adorable they will be!
ReplyDelete-Amy
Gorgeous...every little nook and cranny. :)
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by to say "Hi". Your house is gorgeous!!! I feel inspired to get busy on mine...now if only I could figure out a way to add an extra 12hours to each day...ha!
ReplyDeleteHeidi!
ReplyDeleteI thought I had commented on here before...but I guess not! Congratulations! :) So fun to be adding a girl to the group. :) Also - coolest way of announcing, ever!! I loved it! May have to steal this idea someday! ;)
