It Isn’t ALL Fun and Games

Just in case you are beginning to think we don’t actually LEARN anything around here with all our hiking, bowling, Renaissance Faire, Oregon Garden, and football galavanting…

Luke is planning on working towards Memory Master this year for Classical Conversations. He wanted to start working on the new timeline as soon as we got it this summer. He immediately LOVED the cards and the song is all sorts of fabulous.

Now that I think about it, it still is all fun and games—because this was all Luke’s idea and he loves it. I decided to record him (in pieces because my camera doesn’t like to record for ten and a half minutes at a time!!).

This is proof that a wiggly, crazy, just eight-year-old boy is capable of learning a great deal if he is appropriately challenged. (And proof that he is a silly little boy…)

Awesome! We're in our first year of CC. I used your posts to help make the decision to visit and go when they started one here last year. We've only had one "real" day so far and although my boys are freaked out by presentations, I know it will be good for us!

That is amazing! Way to go Luke! My oldest is almost 5 and she loves watching Luke's videos. Any idea if CC is in Canada and where? What age do kids start?

Heidi, so well done! love it!

Danielle~ That is exciting. Thanks for sharing. :) The presentations can be a bit scary at first, but the kids get used to them very quickly! I know there have been very shy kids in my boys' classes that have just blossomed as the year progressed and they got comfortable! I hope your CC experience is a great one.

Barb~ Thanks! I think they are just starting to branch out into Canada, so there are very few communities available. It starts as young as 4. The Foundations program (morning memory work, public speaking, science activity, and fine arts project) is available for ages 4-11ish. Essentials (the afternoon class of English grammar, writing, and math games) is for grades 3rd or 4th-6th. The Challenge level is a full day each week and covers all subjects for students in 7th-12th grades.
